Jane Ellen Richards, 75, of Rocky Hill, CT; born in Hartford, CT; wife of the late Elbert L. Richards (El), both formerly of Norwalk, CT, passed peacefully with her sons at her side at Hartford Hospital on January 19, 2018. Born September 21, 1942 in Hartford, CT she was the Daughter of the late Margaret M. (Curley) Walsh.
Mrs. Richards attended high school at Mt. Saint Joseph’s Academy, in West Harford, CT, class of 1960. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Central Connecticut State College, New Britain, CT and a Master’s Degree in Mathematics from Lehigh University, Bethlehem, PA. She was a teacher at East Hartford High School. After marrying her husband El, they lived in Meriden, CT for 2 years, then moved to Norwalk, CT where she lived for 32 years.
She is survived by her sons David G. Richards and his wife Kristine A. Heenan of Hartford, CT; Joseph E. Richards and his wife Melanie (Salzman) Richards, Grand Daughters Ellie C. Richards and Paige N. Richards of Alpharetta, GA. She is also survived by Aunts, Doris T (Beaupre) Curley and Marion (Curley) Watts, along with 6 cousins.
In addition to her Husband El and Mother Margaret, she was predeceased by her Grand Daughter Casey Jane Richards, Grandmother Jane E. (McAndrew) Curley, Uncle Joseph J. Curley, Uncle John A. Watts (Jack), and Cousin Joseph D. Curley.
Friends and Family may call, Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 AM at St. Jerome’s Roman Catholic Parish, 23 Half Mile Rd, Norwalk, CT. Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Richards Ave, Norwalk, CT.
