Hugo O. Rossi

Hugo O. Rossi, 84, husband of Sharon Shand Rossi of Norwalk and Port St. Lucie, FL, passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at Wilton Meadows.

Born February 7th 1932, he was the son of Anthony and Mary Marino Rossi.

Hugo proudly and honorably served in the Korean War. He saw combat as Sergeant First Class, 64th Field Artillery Battalion, 25th Division, US Army.

He was a homebuilder for many years in Norwalk and a small business owner of Westport Sanitation Service.

Hugo loved the ocean and its many activities. He was an avid fisherman and boating enthusiast. He enjoyed hunting, dancing, singing and watching his NY Yankees.

He is survived by his four loving and devoted children, Hugh of Bethel, CT, Susan and her husband, Todd Buckley of New Milford, CT, Lisa and her husband Stephen Goldmann of Plymouth, MA, Marc and his wife Maura Reilly of Sandy Hook, CT. He leaves behind his two granddaughters, Tess and Lily Goldmann whom he treasured.

He is also survived by his sister, Ann DiGirolamo of Maryland, sister, Sylvia Caruso of Norwalk, brother, Charles Rossi of Westport, brother-in-law, Richard Shand of Norwalk, and by many nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by sisters, Henrietta Penimpede, Rose Heffner and brother, Joseph.

Friends may call on Friday, November 25, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon at the Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 28, at 10:00 AM at St. Matthew Church, 216 Scribner Avenue, Norwalk.

The family would like to thank Wilton Meadows for their loving care and compassion to Hugo and his entire family.

Donations in Hugo’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and Parkinson’s Disease Foundation.
