Christopher Morin

Christopher Morin, loving husband to Kate and father to Torie and Alistair, passed away on Tuesday, June 13th at Norwalk Hospital.  Born July 13, 1970, in White Plains, NY, he was the son of Theresa Morin and the late Randall L. Morin.

Chris grew up in Riverside, CT and was a member of Innis Arden, where he developed his love of swimming and water polo. He was a member of the Greenwich High School Swim and Water Polo team, and later the Lynchburg College team. After college, Chris met an amazing woman, Kate Owen, who would become Kate Morin on June 15th, 1996. Together they moved to Norwalk, CT and had two beautiful children, Torie and Alistair. He was a devoted family man who lived to be at the pool with Torie, on the baseball field with Alistair, and making pancakes for anyone who would eat them. He never found a sport he didn’t love, a song he didn’t dance to, a tech gadget he couldn’t master, or a movie he didn’t re-watch 17 times. Chris’ love for life and everyone in it was contagious.

If he wasn’t watching the Yankees, at ComicCon with Alistair, or on a college tour with Torie, Chris was out in his community. Chris wore many hats, as a coach and board member for Norwalk Little League, he officiated Zeus swim meets and was eager to lend a hand, any way he could. His love for his family wasn’t limited to his immediate family. He spoke with his mother, Terry, every morning on the way to work and loved to visit his niece, Marley, at college in Atlanta. Together with his brother, Pat, sister, Jen, and their families, they had their own holiday, Little Christmas.

He held his friends like family. He would pick up conversation like it just left off, genuinely excited about what was going on in your life. No matter how far away you were, or how much time had gone by, it was always an easy conversation. He was passionate about his faith, and shared it with his friends and family at just the right times. The family attended Trinity Church in Greenwich for many years, was involved in small groups, and Chris sat on the Trinity council. In recent years, they became involved with YoungLife Norwalk and most recently with the Church of the Good Shepard and Soulfire Ministries.

Chris was a “boss” (probably still is). He is survived by his wife Kate, and children Victoria (Torie) and Alistair (Ali); his mother Theresa Morin, late father Randall Morin, his brother Patrick Morin, his sister and niece Jennifer Morin MacDougall and Marley MacDougall; as well as Kate’s family, father Jerry Owen and late mother Elizabeth; Sister Isobel Owen, her children Emilia, Sofia and Lucas and their father José Miguel Cuevas; Brother Edward Owen, his wife Caryn, and their children Kai and Beckett; And their always goofy dogs, Buffett, Jillybean, and the late great Owen;  Aunts, uncles, cousins, and a village of friends who are family. They will continue to carry on his memory in their hearts and minds forever.

There will be a memorial service on Tuesday, June 20th at 10am at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 163 New Canaan Avenue in Norwalk, CT.

In lieu of sending flowers, donations can be made to the family’s memorial fund; www.gofundme.com/rememberingchrismorin.
