Anthony Bartolo

Anthony Bartolo, Sr., 81, husband of the late Antoinette Romano Bartolo of Norwalk, passed away Wednesday March 29, 2017 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. Born April 28, 1935 in Norwalk, CT, he was the son of the late Edward and Margaret Iannacone Bartolo.

Mr. Bartolo graduated from Norwalk High School and was an All-State athlete in both basketball and baseball. He went on to work for C.R. Gibson for over 40 years. He was an avid golfer and bowler, but his real enjoyment came from his dedication as a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his three sons Kevin Bartolo (Marlene), Edward Bartolo (Linda) and Anthony Bartolo (Kim), his one daughter Karen Coe (Dave); by 10 grandchildren: Jackie, Jenna (George), Jake, Luke, Danikka, Dylan, Zachary, Mitchell, Katie and Eddie; and by his great-grandson Brady. He is also survived by his brother Sal Bartolo, his sister Pat Haynes and by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Maryanne Santasiero.

Friends may call on Sunday from 2:00-6:00 PM at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 AM in St. Matthew Church, 216 Scribner Avenue, Norwalk. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery, Richards Avenue, Norwalk. John E. Sandstrom

New Canaan resident, John E. Sandstrom, 77, husband of Margaret-Rose Sandstrom for 46-years, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 31, 2017 at Rhode Island Hospital.

Born September 26, 1939 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Mary Catherine O’Keane Sandstrom and Frederick Sandstrom. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy as a Construction Battalion Seabee serving in the Vietnam War from 1962-1964 before retiring in 1991 as Chief Warrant Officer-4. In 1962, he began a 54-year career with Con Edison as a Transformer Specialist, retiring in August 2016.In his spare time, John enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family and thirteen grandchildren.

He is survived by his son Richard and wife Carrie of York, SC, daughters Rosemary Casey and her husband Kevin of Ridgefield, CT, Annemarie DeVille and her husband Adam of Fort Wayne, IN, Catherine Sweeney and her husband Shawn of Tiverton, RI, and Mary-Theresa Sandstrom of West Warwick, RI. He is also survived by his grandchildren Brandon, Caroline, James, Thomas, and Joseph Casey; Ephraim, Aiden, Anastasia, and Helena DeVille; Christian, Ryan, and Daniel Sweeney; and Richard P. Sandstrom. He is also survived by his three siblings twin sister Mary Sandstrom-Hennigan and her husband Brian of Rensselaer, NY, brother Rev. Philip Sandstrom of Brussels, Belgium, and sister Clare Blatz and her husband Greg of Rensselaer, NY, and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Thursday, April 6, from 4-8:00pm at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk, CT. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 7 at 10am in Saint Aloysius Church, 21 Cherry St, New Canaan, CT. Interment with military honors will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery, 41 Hecker Ave, Darien, CT. Joseph Silvia

Joseph Silvia, 87, husband of Zulmira Silvia of Norwalk, passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at Norwalk Hospital.

Born in Portugal on October 10, 1929, he was the son of the late Joao and Maria Silvia.

Joseph was a proud Army veteran and grandfather. His passion was for gardening and wine making. Joseph was a very creative and generous man.

In addition to his wife, Zulmira, Joseph is survived by four children MaryAnn, David, Linda (Tim) and Jessica (Doug), and by six grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother Joao Da Silva and a sister Joaquina Salgueiro Celestino of Portugal.

Friends may call Wednesday, April 5, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 6, at 10:00 AM at St. Philip Church, 1 Father Conlon Place, Norwalk. Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery, 223 Richards Avenue, Norwalk.

Annette M. Tudisco

Annette M. Tudisco, wife of the late Jasper T. Tudisco of Norwalk, passed away on Monday, April 10, 2017.

Born in New York City on January 11, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Pia Buzzeo.

Annette was a member of the local chapter of the Red Hats Society, New Horizons at St. Matthew Church in Norwalk and the Senior Center also in Norwalk.

Annette is survived by her children Guy T. Tudisco and his wife Gayle of Bridgehampton, New York and Angela Marie Tudisco of Norwalk, Connecticut; grandchildren Geoffrey Tudisco, Jennifer Flisser and her husband Eric, Matthew, Michael and Marc Zaremski; Great grandchildren Rebecca and Noah.

In addition to her husband Jasper, Annette was predeceased by her brothers Joseph, Louis, Jerry and Richard Buzzeo and sisters Katherine Johnson and Laura Cofone.

Friends may call on Wednesday, April 12, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk. Frances A. Scarpone

Frances A. Scarpone (Marino) died at Norwalk Hospital, surrounded by her children and grandchildren on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at the age of 87.

Frances is survived by her two children, David E. Scarpone and Donna Scarpone Rastocky, both of Norwalk, her four grandchildren, Gregory R. Rastocky, Edward L. Scarpone, Stacy L. Rastocky and Ashley M. Scarpone, a brother, John J. Marino of Shelton, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  She is preceded in death by her husband Edward J. Scarpone.

Frances was born on December 2, 1929 in Norwalk, to Frank and Theresa (Parlato) Marino. A graduate of Norwalk High School, she married Edward Scarpone in 1954.   Frances worked in Edwards Corporation as a secretary.  During her children’s’ school-age years, Frances worked as the School Secretary for St. Joseph’s Catholic School in South Norwalk.  To this day, former students’ of St. Joseph still remember Mrs. Scarpone’s kind heart and warm smile.

Frances’ own children and grandchildren speak of her as selfless and loving, someone who would do anything for them with her greatest pleasure being the time they spent together.  Her family was most important in her world and she was happiest when they were all together.  As a mother and grandmother, she supported her children and grandchildren in all their endeavors and was very proud of all their accomplishments. Frances had many interests; three of her favorites were reading, cooking and baking. Once a week she could be seen leaving the Norwalk Library with a tote bag full of books. When not reading she loved to be in the kitchen preparing family meals with generations Old Italian recipes, and always adding her special touches. She loved being in her home by the water, visiting with her neighbors and taking walks with her cousin Toot.

A funeral is scheduled for Monday April 17th 2017 at St Thomas the Apostle Church in East Norwalk CT at 10 AM. Interment will follow immediately at St Johns cemetery on Richards Avenue; reception to follow at The Laurel Athletic Club, 13 North Avenue.  All are welcome to attend and celebrate the life of Frances A. William Henry McMahon, IV

WILLIAM H. MCMAHON, IV

 

William Henry McMahon, IV, 58 years old, of Framingham, MA passed away in his home on April 13, 2017. A Framingham resident since 1985, Bill was born in Norwalk, CT to the late William H. McMahon, III and Eleanor Devine McMahon. He graduated from Fairfield College Preparatory School and the College of the Holy Cross.

Bill’s life was filled with generosity toward family, friends and community. Bill lived with juvenile diabetes since 1966 and remained living independently after losing his sight from the ravages of the disease in 1984. He graduated from The Carroll Center for the Blind in Newton, MA in 1984 and began a career working for Health Plan Services in Framingham, MA which spanned more than 20 years. In 1996, he received a life-saving kidney transplant from his brother, Kevin. Upon his retirement, Bill devoted more of his time to his favorite causes: The Carroll Center for the Blind, of which he was Vice Chairman of the Board; the United States Blind Golf Association (USBGA), of which he was a 30-year Board Member; and the Framingham Lions Club, of which he was a Past President and Board Member. His charitable and volunteer works also included co-founding Golf-For-All, a not-for-profit organization that provides free golf instruction to adults and children with disabilities in the greater Boston area. Bill was a long time member of the Shorehaven Golf Club in East Norwalk, CT and the Catholic Club of Norwalk,CT.

Bill’s professional accomplishments and charitable works have been recognized by The Massachusetts Commission for the Blind as Blind Employee of the Year; the Northeastern Association for the Blind with the Vista Award; and the Lions Club International with the Melvin Jones Award.

Bill’s family wants to thank all of his friends and supporters for making his wish of independent living a reality. He never could have lived independently over the past 32 years without the calls, visits, rides and support of so many friends and volunteers. Bill enjoyed life to the fullest and traveled throughout the world competing in USBGA events. Nationally ranked as one of the top five blind golfers by the USBGA, his golf travels introduced him to many people such as Prince Andrew of Great Britain and the late Bob Hope, and created friendships with the likes of Eli Manning, Larry Bird, K.C. Jones, Kevin McHale and late Ken Venturi.

Bill is survived by his three brothers, Dr. Eugene J. McMahon and his wife Victoria of Newtown, PA, Paul B. McMahon and his wife Michelle of Acton, MA, and Kevin D. McMahon and his wife Mary Ellen of Southport, CT. He was the proud uncle of Gloria, Grace, Mercedes, Wills, Rosemary, William II, Liam and Jonathan McMahon. He is also survived by a number of aunts, uncles and many cousins.

Visitation will be on Thursday, April 20th from 4:00- 8:00 p.m. at Norton Funeral Home, 53 Beech Street, Framingham, MA 01701. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 21st at St. George Catholic Church, 74 School Street, Framingham, MA 01701. A Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 22nd at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 203 East Avenue, East Norwalk, CT 06855, followed by a burial at St. John Cemetery, 223 Richards Avenue, Norwalk, CT 06850 on Saturday, April 22nd.

It was Bill’s request that donations be made to The Carroll Center for the Blind, 770 Centre Street Newton, MA 02458.

Ellen Bernheim

Ellen Bernheim, 97, wife of the late Kurt Bernheim died Sunday, April 16th at Jewish Senior Services in Bridgeport.

Born in Hamburg, Germany she was the daughter of the late Leo and Emmy Blankenstein. Mrs. Bernheim had been a 60 year resident of Norwalk.

Survivors include a son, Barry L. Bernheim and his wife Rose,a daughter Robin Rockoff, both of Norwalk; three grandchildren, Ken Bernheim, Eric Bernheim and Jennifer Rockoff, five great grandchildren, Dylan Bernheim, Riley Bernheim, Owen Bernheim, Emmy Bernheim and Evan Bernheim.

Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, April 19th at 3:00 PM in Beth El Memorial Park Cemetery, 224 Richards Avenue, Norwalk.

Pawel J. Wadolowski

Pawel John Wadolowski, 32, Norwalk, CT, passed away on April 17, 2017. Born on June 28, 1984, he was the son of Waclaw and Jozefa Wadolowski. He was passionate about cars and worked as a mechanic for many years. In his spare time, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle and spending time with his family.

Pawel is survived by his brother Adam, his sister-in-law Stephanie, nephew Carter, and his sister Madonna Wadolowski.

A wake to honor Pawel’s memory will be held this Thursday, April 20th, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk, CT. A Mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 21st, at 11:00AM at Holy Name of Jesus Christ Church, 325 Washington Blvd, Stamford, CT. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery, 223 Richards Avenue, Norwalk, CT.


Anthony Massaro

Anthony Massaro, 90, beloved husband of Mary (Guaglione) Massaro for over 68 years, a lifelong resident of Norwalk, passed away peacefully at home, Tuesday, April 11, 2017.

Anthony was born December 12, 1926 son of the late Vicenzo & Gabriele Massaro. He attended local schools and served in the U.S. Army in World War II. He worked at the Holson Co. for 26 years as a supervisor. Anthony was an avid sports fan and enjoyed spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his son Vincent Massaro of Norwalk, daughter Patrice Morley and her husband William Morley of Norwalk, three grandchildren, Michael Massaro, Karen Morley and Stacy Massaro all of Norwalk, one great granddaughter Marina Massaro of Coconut Creek, FL, brother Joseph Massaro and sister Theresa Massaro of Norwalk and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial for family and friends will be celebrated on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 203 East Avenue, Norwalk, CT, burial will be private.

Carmela DiMeglio Florio

Carmela DiMeglio Florio, wife of the late Angelo Florio, died peacefully on Thursday April 20, 2017 surrounded by her loving family at her home in Wilton, Connecticut. She was 97 years old.

Benjamin Theodore Polley

Husband of the late Beatrice Polley and beloved companion of Louise Paloian. Benjamin was born in Norwalk, Connecticut and was the son of the late Sam and Ida Litoff Polley He was a Korean War  veteran, 43rd infantry. Before founding and operating his own electronic company, he was the well known and well liked owner of Hank’s Electronics on Washington Street for many years. Ben loved to travel and for over 30 years he loved his many trips to Aruba with his family.

Ben was predeceased by his wife Beatrice, past President of Hadassah, who passed away from leukemia and by his sister Celia Polley. Ben will be survived by his daughter Robin Penna, husband Vinny Penna, his son Barry Polley, wife Penny Barnett-Polley. He is also survived by his sister Dorothy Polley of Paris France, three grandsons, Justin Miller, Patrick and Christopher Polley, his former daughter in law Colette LeBrun and his devoted companion Louise Paloian.

Services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM in Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk, CT. Burial will follow in the Independant Hebrew Society/Temple Shalom Cemetery, 143 Richards Avenue, Norwalk, CT.

Faustina “Tina” Incerto Kuchma

Faustina “Tina” Incerto Kuchma, 91, wife of the late Andrew Kuchma of Norwalk, passed away Sunday, April 23, 2017 at the Norwalk Hospital.

Born April 14, 1926 in Norwalk, she was the daughter of the late Dominick and Mary Mace Incerto.

Mrs. Kuchma worked at Burndy and then at Jefferson School for many years. She will be remembered as a pleasant and cheerful lady who was always smiling. She was also a loving mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her son Thomas Kuchma (Jeneen) of Norwalk, step-daughter Andrea Manning (Brian) of Colorado, two brothers, Donald Incerto  (Janet) of Huston, TX and Anthony Incerto (Margaret) of Norwalk, sister Joanne Incerto and by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband Andrew, Mrs. Kuchma was predeceased by six sisters and five brothers.

Mary R. Morgan

Mary R. Morgan, age 95, was born in Norwalk, CT on December 20, 1921 and passed away at West River Health Care Center, Milford, on April 25, 2017.

Mary graduated from Norwalk High School and was a life-long learner. She earned 2 Associate Degrees from Norwalk Community College. She had a talent and love of music and had studied successfully for Broadway musicals. A lover of animals, Mary was known to walk her dog, Bear, throughout Norwalk and especially loved to watch the many birds in her wooded back yard. She stayed current with world events and enjoyed lively discussions with family members about her favorite political candidates. A creative cook, she loved to collect recipes and was the queen of the casserole. Mary was the daughter of the late Philip and Matilda Mahoney.

She was predeceased by her husband Walter John (Jack) Morgan and her first husband, Ralph Roos, her sisters, Loretta Gorman, Myrtle Vallerie, and Helena (Helen) Pudims, and by brothers Philip, Leo and Robert. Mary was the loving mother of 2 daughters, Mary Matera and Kathleen Roos. In addition to her daughters, survivors include her son-in-law James Matera, 3 granddaughters and families: Nancy and husband Wayne Coury, Donna Matera and Alex Colondona, Susan Baglas and Arthur (Chip) Simpson. Mary was the proud and loving great grandmother of Eleanor Baglas, Nicholas Baglas, Christina Baglas, Anthony Donofrio, Elizabeth Donofrio, Joshua Colondona, Alexandra Colondona, James (Jim) Coury and Joseph (Joe) Coury. She is also survived by 2 sisters: Josephine (Josie) Lawrie and Jacqueline (Jackie) Hawkins, her cousin Doris Bounomo and their families.

Friends and family may call at the Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk, on Monday,  May 1, 2017,  from 10 am to 10:30 am.  A brief service will be held at 10:30 in the funeral home and will be followed by interment at St. John’s Cemetery, 223 Richards Ave., Norwalk, CT.

Joseph A. Schiavone, Sr.

Joseph Anthony Schiavone, 74, passed away peacefully Friday April 28, 2017 surround by his wife Bernadette (Cowhey) Schiavone and family.  Born in Norwalk, CT, he was the son of the late Julius Schiavone and Angelina Schiavone.  He was a thoughtful son and good student.  He graduated from La Salle University in Pennsylvania where he met, fell in love and soon after married Bernadette.  Together their lives were devoted to each other for over 50 years.  Together they made their lives in Newtown, CT and had built a home and had a family.  His career expanded to working as a CFO for Homequity Inc, Owner of Video Forum and CFO of Goodwill Inc.

He was a devout catholic and spent his time volunteering at various parish committees at St. Rose of Newtown.  He was the consummate gentleman know best for quiet spoken optimism and charm.  He was a lifelong, voracious reader and traveler. His favorite pastime was planning and taking cruises all over the world with his loving wife.  Above all, he was a devoted and loyal husband, and a caring and loving father and grandfather.

He is survived by his brother, Julius Schiavone, Jr and his wife Marie in Norwalk and their children,  Shannon Lavertue and her husband Paul and their children, Daniel, Eva, Lauren, Madeline, and Brooks of Woodbury; Joseph Anthony Schiavone Jr, and his wife Kimberley and their daughter Sophia of Madison; Erinn Henry and her husband Robert in Alberta, Canada.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 3, at 10:00am at Saint Matthew Church, 216 Scribner Avenue, Norwalk. Entombment will follow at St John Cemetery, 223 Richards Avenue, Norwalk.

Vaneta Theodore Gordon

Vaneta Theodore Gordon, 80, died peacefully at Norwalk Hospital surrounded by family on Wednesday April 26, 2017.

“Aunt Birdie” or “Nana” as she was affectionately known to her friends and relatives, was born on January 12, 1937, in Pepper, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, to the late Alma Jane Cole and the late Ivan “Ismay” Gordon. She was the eldest of seven.

She attended Pepper Elementary School and Santa Cruz Technical School in Jamaica, where she pursued a degree in Secretarial Studies. She then moved to England at the age of 22 to pursue a degree and career in nursing.

Her journey led her to Holloway Sanatorium in Surrey, England where she worked and achieved two nursing degrees. In 1979, Vaneta embarked on a new journey to the United States where she continued to thrive in the nursing field. This new journey led her to Stamford Hospital where she devoted 35 years of service.

Vaneta loved tennis, politics, church, and a good party. She was also devoted to family. Her strong work ethics and determination afforded her the ability to open the doors of opportunity for her children and siblings by bringing them to the United States. Her wisdom and leadership will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her son, Roy (Donna) Colley of Norwalk; daughter, Shelia (Glen) Moncrieffe of Bridgeport; grandchildren: Lloyd (Season) Colley, Chantel (Junior) Mullings, Lenore Moncrieffe, Shardae Colley all of Bridgeport, and Vanessa Colley of New York; great-grandchildren: Jahnice, Justin, Jared, London, and Junior; siblings: Leathe White of New York,  Delroy Whyte of Bridgeport, and Dalton White of England; a special niece, Nadine White of Maryland; a special nephew, Nicholas White of New York; and a host of other nieces, relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings: Audrey White, Gretel White, Uton White, and Ruth Gordon.

Viewing will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 on Thursday, May 4, at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Ave., Norwalk, CT. Funeral Service will be held Friday, May 5, at 11:00 AM at Christ Episcopal Church, 2 Emerson St., Norwalk, CT.


David Scot Dusenbury

David Scot Dusenbury, beloved husband of Karen Dusenbury, passed away May 1 in Bridgeport Hospital after a short but heroic battle with cancer. He was 50 years old.

Born in Bronxville, NY, the son of Joseph and Elaine Dusenbury, David was raised in Eastchester, NY and graduated from Eastchester High School. He went on to obtain a BA in Economics from the University of Massachusetts and an MBA from NYU’s Stern School of Business.

David was a devoted and respected professional in the finance industry, where he built a career over nearly three decades. He earned his MBA at night while working as a junior analyst at Solomon Brothers, and later as an MBA trainee at Credit Suisse First Boston. After completing his MBA, David was promoted to a Senior Analyst role at Credit Suisse, where he published extensively on financial institutions, earning him recognition by Institutional Investor Magazine as a top analyst three years in a row. He later found real passion in the business when he joined the buy side, first as an Analyst for a start-up hedge fund, and later as a Portfolio Manager at Dalton Greiner Hartman Maher. During his career on the buy side, Dave became well regarded as a stock picker. Concerned about social responsibility and aspiring to make a positive impact on society, David left DGHM to join Cornerstone Capital, where he assumed responsibility for strategy and business development as Managing Director alongside the company’s founder and long-time friend, Erika Karp. Together they were devising ambitious plans for making a better world. To his partners, associates, and clients, David will be missed, but the many contributions from his life and professional career will long be remembered.

David had a heart of gold, and was an incredibly generous and compassionate man. He was hardworking, funny, introspective, loving and humble. In addition to his career on Wall Street, David was deeply committed to the practice of yoga and meditation, and became certified as an instructor of both several years ago. He was constantly working to better himself, almost always in service of his relationships with family, friends, and the community at large.

David was a loving and devoted husband, father, son and son-in-law. He was giving beyond description. He adored and admired his two sons, Gregory and Justin, and made sure every day to tell them as much. In addition to his wife and sons, David is survived by parents, Joseph and Elaine Dusenbury of Boynton Beach, FL; sister Lisa Weinert of Marietta, GA; and parents in law, Albert and Helene Schiller, also of Boynton Beach.

A funeral service will be held for David this Thursday, May 4, at 11:00 am at Temple Shalom, 259 Richards Avenue, Norwalk.

Martha Diana Vorperian

Martha Diana Vorperian (Nee: Saradjian) of Norwalk, CT, formerly of Scarsdale, NY, passed away Saturday, May 6, 2017 at her home in Norwalk.  She was 87. Born January 17, 1930 in Tientsin, China, she was the daughter of Nerses and Zarouhi Saradjian.

Mrs. Vorperian graduated Stamford High School, Class of 1947 and attended Bridgeport University. She then worked as a Phone Operator for Southern New England Bell and married Harry G. Vorperian.

She was a long-time member of Hitchcock Presbyterian Church in Scarsdale, NY. There she served as a deacon and sang in the choir. She was also a loving mother and homemaker.

Mrs. Vorperian is survived by her devoted husband of 59 years, Harry, her two sons John (Milder) of White Plains, NY and Richard (Kate) of Somers, NY, and by her step-grandson Juan of White Plains, NY. She is also survived by her brothers John Saradjian of Stamford, CT and Martin Saradjian (Marge) of Lexington, MA and by two nephews.

Friends may call on Saturday from 1:00-4:00 PM at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk, CT. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Shirley Kramer London Kestenbaum

Born February 13, 1928 and passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017 at the age of 89, and wife of the late Leo Kestenbaum, died peacefully in Florida.  She was born in Boston, MA, daughter of parents Morris and Dorothy (Winters) Kramer and had lived in Norwalk for most of her life and more recently in Hollywood, FL.

She was a graduate of the Fay School of Boston. She worked part-time at various Norwalk and Darien companies as a secretary and administrative assistant.  She was also very active in the Zoinist movement and a lifelong member of Hadasah. She was an active member of Rolling Hills Country Club where she was an avid bridge, tennis and golf aficionado for over 40 years.  She loved spending time and traveling with her late husband, Leo Kestenbaum.  Shirley was a loving Mother, Grandmother and Aunt.

Survivors include two daughters, Faith London Epstein and her husband Neil of Trumull, CT and Jill London and domestic partner, Paul Nowell of NYC and Cobb CA.  Two grandsons, Lawrence London Epstein and Marshall Kramer Epstein.  Surviving siblings are Brother Paul Kramer and wife Marilyn of NYC and sisters Joan Kramer Sullivan and husband Bill of Burlington, MA and Andrea Kramer Phaneuf and husband Roger of Leesburg, VA and Ft. Myers, FL and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by step children Jody Kestenbaum Dolman, Abbe Kestenbaum Simons and Joshua Kestenbaum and her step grandchildren.

Services will be held on Monday at 11:30 AM at Congregation Beth El, 109 East Avenue, Norwalk, CT. Burial will follow in the Beth El Memorial Park, Richards Avenue, Norwalk. Kenneth F. Osgood

Kenneth F. Osgood, 79, of Norwalk, passed away on Saturday, May 6th.  Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of the late Clarence Henry and Mary Louise Osgood.  He was a veteran of the US Army and board member, volunteer, and lifetime supporter of STAR, Inc. and STAR Residential Services of Norwalk, CT.  He is survived by his children Douglas Osgood, Donna Solano and her husband Dominick, Kelly Eckert and her husband Donald, and Jennifer Miller, grandchildren: Alex, Kaitlyn, and Nicholas Solano, Marie and Thomas Eckert, Kylie and Luke Miller, his sister Joyce Glifort of Florida and several nieces and nephews.  Private services will be held.  Memorial donations can be made to STAR, Inc – Lighting the Way, 182 Wolfpit Avenue, Norwalk, CT 06851.

George Collins Skidd, Jr.

George Collins Skidd, Jr., passed away peacefully May 11, 2017.

 

Born December 12, 1943, the son of George C. and Doris D. Skidd, he is predeceased by his parents.

 

He is survived by his wife, Claire Cardelle Skidd, his daughters Laurie Cross and her husband, Michael; Melissa Montanaro and her husband, John; step-daughter, Judith DiPasquale and her husband Tom Tuttle; eight grandchildren, and his brothers Kevin Skidd and David Skidd and his wife Sue.

 

He attended St Leo’s College in Florida where he played basketball.  He also attended McAllister Institute of Funeral Service in New York. He was an avid boater and motorcycle enthusiast, and he was an accomplished amateur photographer. George was a former member of the South Norwalk Boat Club and had served on the Marina Committee and Board of Governors. Before retiring to Georgia he was vice-president of Collins Funeral Home in Norwalk, CT, where he worked for many years.

 

A mass will be celebrated at St. Benedict Church, 11045 Parsons Road, Johns Creek, Georgia, on Tuesday, May 23rd at 10:30 am.  Interment will take place on June 7th at St. John Cemetery, 223 Richards Ave, Norwalk, CT, at 9:00 am, followed by a memorial mass officiated by Rev. Victor Martin at 10:30 am at St Thomas Aquinas Church, 1719 Post Road, Fairfield, CT.
