Elizabeth J. Raila, age 90, former longtime resident of Norwalk, passed away peacefully on December 26.
Betty Raila was born on October 16, 1928 in Manly, Iowa. She was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Bethel Kellogg.
Betty was a member of the Women’s Board at the Norwalk Hospital and a volunteer at the Treasure House as well as member of the Norwalk Historical Society. She was a member and a Deacon at the Saugatuck Congregational Church and a 50-year member of the Shore and Country Club in East Norwalk. She was a former Real Estate agent for William Raveis.
Betty loved life, her family, friends, and her church. She enjoyed tennis, golf, walking and bridge as well as volunteering for various causes.
She leaves behind her son David A. Raila and his wife Pamela of Trumbull, CT; daughter Barbara A. Staszak and husband Christopher of North Grafton, MA; two granddaughters Madeleine and Katherine Staszak and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her late husband, Edward S. Raila, Elizabeth was predeceased by her eldest son Douglas G. Raila, and her three sisters Ruth Workman, Marjorie Ambroson, and Gladys Messerly.
Friends may call Sunday, December 30 from 2:00 – 4:00pm at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk, CT. A private burial service will be on Monday. Everyone is welcome to join us for a Memorial Service to celebrate Betty’s life on Sunday January 6, at 2:00pm at the Saugatuck Congregational Church, 245 Post Road East, Westport, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Saugatuck Church.
