Nancy Jane Vetare, 78, of Norwalk passed away on Thursday evening on the 7th of December surrounded by her loving family.
Nancy was born on May 26th, 1939 in Norwalk, CT to the late John W. Somers and Edna Coombs Somers. She attended Norwalk High School and went on to enjoy working for both Perkin Elmer and International Healthcare LLC. Nancy was loved by all who knew her. She was very involved with her church, always willing to help anyone in need. She enjoyed rooting for the New York Yankees, especially Derek Jeter whom she named her cat after. She treasured her time with neighborhood friends (The Devon Girls) and her trips to Vermont with her beloved husband. What she loved most of all was being surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and all of her pets.
She is survived by her husband, retired Norwalk Police officer, Richard Vetare Sr. of Norwalk, her sons Richard Vetare Jr. and his wife Marsha of Monroe, Scott Vetare and his wife Lynn of Norwalk, David Vetare and his wife Dana of Shelton; her loving grandchildren Michael Vetare, Steven Vetare, and Shelby Vetare of Norwalk, and also Lyle and Sophia Vetare of Newtown; her brother William Somers and his wife Laurain formerly of Ridgefield, and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brother Jack Somers of Norwalk.
Friends may call Tuesday, December 12th, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk CT. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, December 13th, at St. Paul’s on the green, 60 East Avenue, Norwalk CT. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Riverside Avenue, Norwalk CT.
