Joseph J. Ferraro, Sr.

Joseph J. Ferraro, Sr.84, of Norwalk, husband of Philomena Pirro Ferraro, died Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at Wilton Meadows Health Care Center.

 

Born in Norwalk, February 12, 1933, son of the late Michael and Nicoletta Caccitto Ferraro, he was a life-long city resident. In his youth, he played basketball with St. Joseph Parish C. Y. O. team. Mr. Ferraro was a Korean War veteran of the U. S. Army. Joining the Norwalk Fire Department in 1956, Joe served the city for twenty-eight years, retiring in 1984. He also had a landscaping business. After retirement, Joe was a security guard at Stew Leonard’s for twenty years. He was a member of the Laurels Athletic Club and a member of the South Norwalk Boat Club for over thirty years.

 

Survivors in addition to his wife include a son Joseph J. Ferraro, Jr. and his wife Lisa, of New Canaan, grandsons; Tyler and Ryan Ferraro, cousins, nieces and nephews.

 

Mr. Ferraro is predeceased by siblings; Lawrence and William Ferraro, Mary Goldman and Tina Marino.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, July 1st, at 10:00 A. M. in St. Jerome Church, 23 Half Mile Road. Entombment, with Military and Fire Department Honors, will take place in St. John Cemetery, Norwalk.

 

Friends may call Friday, June 30, from 4:00 to 8:00 P. M. at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk.
