Mary Lou Kurtzman

Former Resident of Norwalk
Mary Lou Brown Kurtzman, aka “ML” 74, was surrounded by her family and passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2016. Mary Lou was born in Fredericton, New Brunswick Canada on August 24th, 1942 to Ann “Bertha” and Kenneth Brown. Her family moved to Norwalk, CT in 1955. Mary Lou went Norwalk High School, and graduated in 1960. Mary Lou worked at her family’s rental store (Browns Rental) and was also employed by Visiting Angels.

 

Mary Lou retired and moved to Brookfield, CT in 2004 to live with her long-time companion James Hungaski. She was a very loving person, always putting others, in front of herself. She was a very social person and had a heart of gold. Her loves were her family, friends, music, the camp, traveling, and helping others.

Mary Lou is survived by her brother Sidney and wife Janis Brown of North Salem. Mary Lou has three children, John Kurtzman and long-time partner Ann Marie Luciano, of Redding, Gregory Kurtzman of Norwalk, Jason and his wife Meghan Kurtzman of Norwalk. She is also survived by her six grandkids, Gregory “G” Kurtzman, Jr. of Charleston, SC, Kayla Kurtzman of Bridgeport, Rachael Kurtzman of Norwalk, Mackenzie Stamp of Norwalk, Summer Stamp of Norwalk, Jason “JJ” Kurtzman, Jr. of Norwalk and her one great grand-daughter Madison. Mary Lou had one nephew Kyle Brown of VT. She was also survived by her ex-husband John Kurtzman, Sr. of Norwalk, aunt Myrna Shirley, N.S. Canada and many cousins all over the US and Canada. Mary Lou was predeceased by her Father Kenneth Brown, mother Bertha Higgs Brown and her brother Russell Brown.
A wake will be held on Thursday December 1st, from 4-8 pm. at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Ave., Norwalk, CT. Funeral services will be held at Cornerstone Community Methodist Church, 718 West Ave., Norwalk on Friday, December 2, 2016 at 10 am. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery, 223 Richards Avenue, Norwalk.
