Susan Jane Spivack, 77, wife of Mark Spivack for over 55 years, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2019 surrounded by family at her home in Westport, CT. Born in New York City on February 2, 1942 she was the daughter of the late Samuel Lazrus and Viola Rosenstein Lazrus.
Susan Spivack, a highly accomplished watercolorist, graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology (State University of New York) where she majored in textile design; she also studied at numerous workshops in Italy, France and Bermuda, as well as several throughout the Northeast. She was a member of the Connecticut Watercolor Society, the New Haven Paint and Clay Club, the Rowayton Arts Center and, among others, the nationally renowned Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club. She was the recipient of innumerable awards at both juried and invitational shows, and has been exhibited in several museums around the country as well as being represented in countless private collections.
In addition to her husband Mark, Susan is survived by her daughter Wendy English and her husband Eric of Wilton, CT along with her grandchildren Max and Owen English; as well as her brother Allan Lazrus of Boulder, CO. Susan was predeceased in life by her daughter Heather Spivack.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 1, at 10:00 AM at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk. Friends and family may visit with the family before the services from 9:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at 1:00 PM at Cedar Park Cemetery, 735 Forest Avenue, Paramus, NJ.
