Vasilios Diamantis

Vasilios Diamantis, 88, husband of Panagiota Diamantis of Norwalk, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, December 7, 2018 at the Norwalk Hospital. Born May 30, 1930 in Teriahi Epirus, Greece. He was the son of the late George and Ourania (Pappas) Diamantis.
Vasilios came to the United States in 1951 as an immigrant to make a better life for himself and his family. He worked as custodian at Central Catholic High School for over 36 years.
He loved to go for rides to the beach with his grandsons, especially Christos. He enjoyed planting his garden but mainly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow up and taking them to Toys R Us to play with Thomas the Tank Engines.
He is survived by his wife Panagiota, daughter Ourania (Ilias Perdikis) of Stamford, and son George Diamantis (Susan) of Milford.
He is also survived by his 3 precious grandsons, Christos of Stamford, William and Charles of Milford as well as his brother John Diamantis and WIfe Alexandra. Many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sisters, Dorothy Kokias, Vasiliki Fotinopoulos and brother in law Stelios Kokias.
Friends and Family may call, Sunday December 9, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00pm at Collins Funernal Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk,CT. Trisigion Service will be held at 7:00pm.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 10 at 10:00 AM at St. George Greek Orthodox Church 238 West Rocks Road East Norwalk.
Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery, 223 Richards Avenue, Norwalk.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Stamford and/or the American Cancer Society or St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Norwalk.
