John W. Ellis

John W. Ellis, age 92, of Norwalk, CT passed away peacefully at home on May 21, 2016. He was born on April 6, 1924 in Bristol, RI to the late John W. and Louise Ellis.

He served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Corridor during WWII as an Aviation Electrician’s Mate, First Class Petty Officer. He was a life member (since 1961) and past commander of the American Legion Post 12 on Country Street in Norwalk.

He was an electrician by trade for his career. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) for 67 years and a former Business Manager. He also served as Chapter Manager of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) for many years.

He is survived by his four children, Kathi Fitzherbert and husband Gary of Washington, CT, Jacqueline Ellis and husband Paul Gilbert of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, Kevin Ellis and wife Jean of Vero Beach, FL and John Ellis and wife Michele of Fairfield, CT and his six grandchildren, Kristi Beck and husband Jon, Anne and Matthew Gilbert, Marina, Marissa and Colleen Ellis. He is also survived by two great grandchildren, Mackenzie and Sarah Beck.

He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 49 years, Dorothea Parks Ellis and his brother James Ellis. He is also predeceased by his loving partner of 8 years, Jean Iaizzi Black.

The wake will be held at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk on Wednesday, May 25 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. His memorial service will take place at Collins Funeral Home on Thursday, May 26 at 10:00 a.m. with interment following at Riverside Cemetery, 81 Riverside Avenue, Norwalk.
