Joseph Calderon, 82, died unexpectedly on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at the Norwalk Hospital.
Born November 13, 1935 in New York, NY, he was the son of the late Jose and Elena Calderon. Joseph received his Associate Degree from New York City Community College of Arts and Sciences in applied sciences. Shortly after he joined the U.S. Air Force, where he served in the medical corps perfecting his craft as a dental technologist. He was honorably discharged July 1961.
Joseph was husband to Minerva Calderon who preceded him in death. He lived and worked in the Bronx, NY where he raised his two sons, Mark and Brian. He later retired to Norwalk Connecticut to be closer to his loving companion of over four decades, Maureen Faulkner.
After a debilitating stroke in December 2012, Joe was able to live in a way that made him feel that he still had a place in this world because of the tremendous act of love by his son Brian who relocated from Houston, Texas to care for him.
Joseph is survived by his two sisters Alice and Yolanda, sons Mark and Brian, Mark’s wife Ines and two grandchildren Amanda and Justin, Maureen her two children Claudia and husband Oz, Dennis and wife Lori, daughter-in-law Barbara and grandchildren David, Tara and Kevin.
Friends may call on Thursday, October 25, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk, CT. A service will be held graveside on Friday, October 26, at 11:00 AM in St. Raymond Cemetery, 2600 Lafayette Avenue, Bronx NY; St. Anthony section.
