Alexandros (Alex) Aslanidis, 79, beloved husband of Panagiota (Penny) Aslanidis, passed away June 13, 2018 at home, in Norwalk, CT. He was the son of the late Ioannis and Asteropi Aslanidis. Alex was born on November 7, 1938 in Batumi, Georgia (former U.S.S.R.), but was raised and educated in Thessaloniki, Greece where he found and married the love of his life. In August 1968, they emigrated to Norwalk, CT to be with his siblings and parents and to seek the “American Dream.” Alex was an accomplished craftsman and sole proprietor of Norwalk Iron Works for many decades. He received great joy form his 50 year marriage to his beloved wife, Panagiota and the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He was a kind, gentle, man and will always be remembered for his perpetual smile, sense of humor, love of life, but most of all, for his hugs and kisses. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three daughters: Asteropi Aslanidis; Phyllis and her husband, John Petridis and their four children, Taso, Aleko, Niko and Eleni; Yianna and her husband, Dennis Gergely and their children, Alexandra, Mark and Niko. He is also survived by his sister, Valentina Stefanidis his brother, Konstantinos Aslanidis and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Panagiotis Aslanidis.
Friends may call tomorrow, Friday, June 15th from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk, CT. Services will be held on Saturday, June 16th at 10:00, at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, West Rocks Road, Norwalk, CT.
