Walter (Walt) Greene, Jr.

Trooper First Class Walter (Walt) Greene Jr., age 51, of Norwalk, passed away on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at home after a valiant battle with cancer as a result of his response and service in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack. Born in Stamford on January 14, 1967 to Walter Greene Sr. and the late Nonie Faye Cureton. Walter is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 32 years, Suzanne Greene, his three sons, DJ, Thomas and Cody Greene; his father Ted Greene and companion of 20+ years Danet Gaithers his sisters Marilyn Guest (Tim), Gloria Nesmith (Charles), Natonya Wortham Wright (Orlando) and Pamela Greene; his mother-in-law, Dorothy J. Brown of Norwalk, his father-in-law, Thomas E. Brown of Naples, FL, and many family and friends.  He was predeceased by his beloved daughter Taylor Ayanna Greene.

Trooper First Class Greene served in the U.S. Marine Corps for four years during which he achieved the rank of Lance Corporal and marksmanship level of Sniper before joining the Connecticut State Police on June 01, 1990. He was a member of the 101 st  Training Troop. During the initial part of his career, he was assigned to Troops A and G; then to the Statewide Cooperative Crime Control Task Force. He served much of the latter part of his career in the Traffic Services Unit. Trooper First Class Greene had been a Master Instructor for Motor Services since 2008, as well as a K-9 handler for several years. He was an avid supporter of the Special Olympics and actively participated in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for many years.

Walter was an avid hunter, enjoyed playing softball, and was a hard core New England Patriots fan who relished DJing at parties. He also loved cooking and spending quality time with family and friends.

Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, June 11, 2018 from I:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Sherwood Island State Park, Westport, CT. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, June 12 ,  2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the same location.
