Margaret Fermature, 99, wife of the late Mittro Paul Fermature of Old Riverside, passed away on Friday, April 15, 2016.
Born on January 27, 1917, in Bronx, NY, she was the daughter of the late Vito and Philomena DiPalo Giuliano.
Margaret worked for the Wantagh (NY) Police Department in the 1950’s, and was a member of St. Martin of Tours Parish in Bethpage, New York. She moved to Riverside in 1955 and later became a resident of Hill House in 1995. She was founder and the first president of the Hill House Residents’ Association.
Survivors include a daughter; Eileen Bianchini (chair of the Gospel of Life Society), of Norwalk, and son; Gary Fermature, and his wife; Jane, of Forest Hills, NY, two sisters; Laura Orgera, of Westchester, NY and Paula Festa , of Atlanata, GA, one grandson; David Bianchini of Norwalk, and several adoring nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband Mittro, Margaret is predeceased by her daughter, Karen Fermature and three brothers; Nicholas, Leonard, and Vincent Guiliano.
Calling hours will be held, Tuesday, April 19, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 20, at 10:30 AM at St. Mary Church 669 West Avenue, Norwalk. Interment will follow in St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY.
