Phyllis Isenberg passed peacefully at Meadow Ridge on Saturday, November 25, 2017, at the age of 100.
Born and raised in Norwalk, Phyllis graduated from Norwalk High School and went on to graduate from Teachers College of Connecticut. She taught at Lincoln, Washington, Columbus and Fitch Schools in Norwalk as well as in Oklahoma at the Heronville School of all Native American Children. As a token of her dedication to education, Phyllis was honored by the Connecticut State Legislature with a proclamation of distinguished service, and taught homebound students in trailers in Norwalk.
Phyllis had an indefatigable passion for world travel and the arts. She was without a doubt the most well dressed in any room she entered.
She is survived by her loving husband Ben Isenberg, daughters Cathy Lynn Kalner and Shelley Ann Horne, granddaughters Lisa Williams, Caryn Czernecki and Becca Sepan, four great grand grandchildren;Camryn Czarnecki, Sierra Williams, Amelia Sepan and Jonah Benjamin Sepan.
Services will be held graveside on Monday, November 27, at 11:00 AM at the Independent Hebrew Society Cemetery, Richards Avenue, Norwalk.
