Mary R. Morgan, age 95, was born in Norwalk, CT on December 20, 1921 and passed away at West River Health Care Center, Milford, on April 25, 2017.
Mary graduated from Norwalk High School and was a life-long learner. She earned 2 Associate Degrees from Norwalk Community College. She had a talent and love of music and had studied successfully for Broadway musicals. A lover of animals, Mary was known to walk her dog, Bear, throughout Norwalk and especially loved to watch the many birds in her wooded back yard. She stayed current with world events and enjoyed lively discussions with family members about her favorite political candidates. A creative cook, she loved to collect recipes and was the queen of the casserole. Mary was the daughter of the late Philip and Matilda Mahoney.
She was predeceased by her husband Walter John (Jack) Morgan and her first husband, Ralph Roos, her sisters, Loretta Gorman, Myrtle Vallerie, and Helena (Helen) Pudims, and by brothers Philip, Leo and Robert. Mary was the loving mother of 2 daughters, Mary Matera and Kathleen Roos. In addition to her daughters, survivors include her son-in-law James Matera, 3 granddaughters and families: Nancy and husband Wayne Coury, Donna Matera and Alex Colondona, Susan Baglas and Arthur (Chip) Simpson. Mary was the proud and loving great grandmother of Eleanor Baglas, Nicholas Baglas, Christina Baglas, Anthony Donofrio, Elizabeth Donofrio, Joshua Colondona, Alexandra Colondona, James (Jim) Coury and Joseph (Joe) Coury. She is also survived by 2 sisters: Josephine (Josie) Lawrie and Jacqueline (Jackie) Hawkins, her cousin Doris Bounomo and their families.
Friends and family may call at the Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk, on Monday, May 1, 2017, from 10 am to 10:30 am. A brief service will be held at 10:30 in the funeral home and will be followed by interment at St. John’s Cemetery, 223 Richards Ave., Norwalk, CT.
