Frances A. Scarpone (Marino) died at Norwalk Hospital, surrounded by her children and grandchildren on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at the age of 87.

Frances is survived by her two children, David E. Scarpone and Donna Scarpone Rastocky, both of Norwalk, her four grandchildren, Gregory R. Rastocky, Edward L. Scarpone, Stacy L. Rastocky and Ashley M. Scarpone, a brother, John J. Marino of Shelton, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  She is preceded in death by her husband Edward J. Scarpone.

Frances was born on December 2, 1929 in Norwalk, to Frank and Theresa (Parlato) Marino. A graduate of Norwalk High School, she married Edward Scarpone in 1954.   Frances worked in Edwards Corporation as a secretary.  During her children’s’ school-age years, Frances worked as the School Secretary for St. Joseph’s Catholic School in South Norwalk.  To this day, former students’ of St. Joseph still remember Mrs. Scarpone’s kind heart and warm smile.

Frances’ own children and grandchildren speak of her as selfless and loving, someone who would do anything for them with her greatest pleasure being the time they spent together.  Her family was most important in her world and she was happiest when they were all together.  As a mother and grandmother, she supported her children and grandchildren in all their endeavors and was very proud of all their accomplishments. Frances had many interests; three of her favorites were reading, cooking and baking. Once a week she could be seen leaving the Norwalk Library with a tote bag full of books. When not reading she loved to be in the kitchen preparing family meals with generations Old Italian recipes, and always adding her special touches. She loved being in her home by the water, visiting with her neighbors and taking walks with her cousin Toot.

A funeral is scheduled for Monday April 17th 2017 at St Thomas the Apostle Church in East Norwalk CT at 10 AM. Interment will follow immediately at St Johns cemetery on Richards Avenue; reception to follow at The Laurel Athletic Club, 13 North Avenue.  All are welcome to attend and celebrate the life of Frances A. Scarpone.  In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The American Heart Association (www.heart.org).
