Margaret “Peggy” Vellotti, 92, of Norwalk, quietly passed away at Norwalk Hospital with her family by her side on Dec. 28, 2016.
Born at the family home in Rowayton on Jan. 26, 1924, to John and Mary Elizabeth Hanlon, she was predeceased by her twin sister Elizabeth “Betty” Gross, of Stamford, siblings Rose and Vera of Norwalk, Frances of Wilton, and John Hanlon of Darien.
In the months following WWII, she attended a dance for returning soldiers and sailors at the Roton Point amusement park where she met Vincent Vellotti, a navy veteran. They married on June 16, 1947, and began a life in Norwalk, with Peggy working for years as bookkeeper and typist for their business, Vellotti Realtors of Rowayton.
She leaves behind her son, Thomas J. Vellotti, and daughter, Susan Carroll, both of Norwalk, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated TODAY, December 30, 2016 at 1:30 PM in St. Matthews Church 216 Scribner Avenue, Norwalk. Interment will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, West Norwalk. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Hearing Charities of America (www.hearingcharities.org).
